Head: Ralf was Very Uncommunicative

Williams-BMW technical director Patrick Head on Sunday revealed that German driver Ralf Schumacher went silent after making a mistake on the 28th lap of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Williams-BMW technical director Patrick Head on Sunday revealed that German driver Ralf Schumacher went silent after making a mistake on the 28th lap of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Schumacher was in second place but effectively ruined his race when he lost control of his car, going off the track and damaging its front wing and underfloor after clattering over the kerbs.

"After he had been off he was very uncommunicative to us in terms of telling us what had happened," Head said. "He didn't say 'I have been off and I think I have damaged the front', he just said 'there may be something wrong with the front wing'.

"So when he came in, we changed the nose but there was loads of grass and rubbish hanging from the bottom of the car...He isn't too happy about what happened, but what caused him to do that I don't know."

Schumacher, who had been second in the Championship before the race, did himself few favours as his brother Michael extended his Championship lead by securing another ten points for a dominant victory.
