Hamilton not dwelling on home success

Lewis Hamilton says he has moved on from his sensational British Grand Prix victory in order to focus on the championship challenge ahead of him

The McLaren driver took a dominant home win last Sunday to bounce back from two disappointing races with no points and to move back into the championship lead as the season reached its halfway point.

Hamilton's Silverstone win was hailed as superb and the Briton admitted it was the best of his whole career.

But the championship leader says he has already moved on from it, and is instead focusing on the next race.

"I'm not living on that weekend," Hamilton said during testing at Hockenheim. "It was great to get it over and done with. After a troubled weekend we finished on a high.

"But straight away on Monday I was looking forward to the next race. I'm not getting ahead of myself.

"I will never forget that day, for sure. It was a very, very memorable day in my life, in my career. I don't think I'll ever forget it, but it's important that I don't keep thinking about it. I'd rather focus on the next race."

Hamilton is looking in very good shape for the German Grand Prix next week after topping the times during the first two days of testing at Hockenheim.

And the Briton insists McLaren have taken a big step forward over the past few weeks.

"They have gone very, very well," said Hamilton of his two days of testing. "It was very productive and we didn't have any problems with the car. As always, very reliable, and continued to improve the engine.

"I think with the car we have really moved and have made some good steps forwards. I'm not saying we have overtaken the Ferraris, but we've made goo steps forward that we are comfortable with."
