Good Times Will Come My Way, Says Barrichello

Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello believes it is only a matter of time before his luck turns and he enjoys some of teammate Michael Schumacher's success.

Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello believes it is only a matter of time before his luck turns and he enjoys some of teammate Michael Schumacher's success.

The Brazilian's run of bad luck contrasted with four times Formula One World Champion Schumacher's triumph in Spain last weekend.

Barrichello's car broke down at the start of the formation lap for his fourth retirement in five races while a dominant Schumacher celebrated his fourth win of the year. But the Brazilian said that rather than leaving on the spot, he had stayed at the track to see how the race evolved.

"I watched and paid attention to everything that was going on although it was not much fun watching from outside the cockpit," he told Ferrari's website. "Initially I was trying to see the positive side of my situation, because it was very difficult to find anything good to say after an afternoon like that.

"The positive side was that Michael was cruising and the car looks very, very good. I am sure that I just have to stick at it and the good times will come my way too. Imola was lucky and Barcelona was just unlucky.

But he has taken encouragement from the fact that the German quadruple World Champion has been able to dramatically outpace his opposition in the races since the new F2002 was introduced in Brazil.

"He has won three out of three races with the new car and in Brazil no one was expecting that," said Barrichello. "Since that race, he seems to have made it look easy."

Barrichello has scored just six points this season with a second place finish behind four times World Champion Schumacher at the San Marino Grand Prix.

Schumacher has meanwhile won four out of five races and leads the standings over Williams' Colombian Juan Pablo Montoya by a hefty 21 points. The next race is in Austria next week.
