Glock's future set to be decided by CRB

Glock has been a BMW-Sauber test driver this season and, after winning the GP2 championship, several F1 teams expressed an interest in his services for 2008.

BMW Sauber were also interested in keeping him on board as a test driver and, although happy to let him race elsewhere next year, sources suggest they are keen to retain some tie to him for the longer term future.

It is understood that Toyota won the battle to sign him to a race seat for 2008 and agreed a deal for next year, but after lodging their contract with the CRB it was found that there was a conflict with some conditions detailed in his current contract at BMW Sauber.

It is not known what the clash of contracts entails, but it could refer to longer term commitments over the next few years.

The matter will now be decided by the CRB, with a decision expected imminently.

BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen said recently that the team would wait for Glock's future to be resolved before deciding on their 2008 test driver plans.

"It is clear that we will have only one test driver because we saw this year that even one test driver doesn't get as much mileage as he should get," he said.

"We would prefer to stay with Timo, but it depends on his situation. We will keep the door open for him. If he pursues other opportunities we will find a replacement. In the November test we would anyway prefer to have the race drivers in the car."
