Glock: Lack of KERS no disadvantage

Timo Glock believes that he and team-mate Jarno Trulli will not be at a disadvantage in this weekend's Australian Grand Prix by not running with KERS

The German believes that Toyota's decision to run without KERS could even give the team the edge in terms of weight distribution and car set-up.

"It's not a problem," said Glock. "We concentrated on adapting the car to the new rules because we had less testing. So we concentrated on the stability of the car, getting the set-up right and going in the right direction.

"We tested KERS one time, in Portimao with [test driver] Kamui Kobayashi, who was running without problems. We are developing it back in Cologne, so we just try to find a solid base for the start and then see how it goes."

Despite his confidence, Glock admitted that if he was to be defending against a KERS-equipped car during the race, he might be forced to adapt his driving style to keep them behind.

"It depends on the speed," he said. "If he's quicker then you have to defend yourself in the corners with a long straight following.

"I know from Champ Car in 2005 when I was leading in Montreal, I had no push-to-pass but all of the guys behind me did. Every time out of the hairpin down the long straight I had to change the way I drove the corner to get the best possible exit."
