Gascoyne tips Sutil to shine in Monaco
Spyker's chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne has tipped German Adrian Sutil to shine at next week's Monaco Grand Prix
"Yes, I think he'll really be able to show what a talent he is," Gascoyne said. "I think Adrian is doing a superb job and I think his pace is pretty strong. Once he stops making rookie errors, which everyone does, he'll be very good."
Sutil, making his Formula One debut this year with the Ferrari-powered team, has outqualified his more experienced teammate Christijan Albers three times in four races.
The 24-year-old German, who drove alongside Lewis Hamilton in the Formula Three Euro Series in 2005, has also scored the best result of the season for Spyker with a 13th place at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Sutil is the F3 lap record holder in Monaco.
Gascoyne added: "It's a point I've made before. Lewis Hamilton is doing an unbelievable job, while Adrian is struggling at the back, but he outqualified Lewis at Monaco in F3. It's funny how things fall for you!"
Gascoyne believes Sutil is outshining Albers because the Dutchman is struggling to cope with this year's tyres.
"He was struggling to get to grips with the tyres and I think he's really starting to understand it," he added. "He's very aggressive on turning in under the brakes and these tyres just don't seem to have very good turn-in in these circumstances.
"Adrian is much smoother and it's this difference on and off the brakes that I think a few of the drivers are really struggling with. However, it was a better weekend for Christijan.
"The big thing is he's understood what the problem is, and then of course you can get round to addressing it."
