Jordan founder member Gary Anderson is returning to the Formula One team as director of race and test engineering.
Anderson, now 50, helped Eddie Jordan set up the Grand Prix team in 1991 and, as chief designer and technical director, was a key figure over an eight-year period.
"Gary has been a huge part of Jordan Grand Prix's history," said Eddie Jordan in a statement on Wednesday announcing the reappointment of the "technical brain" behind his earlier cars.
"We are delighted to welcome him back after his time at Jaguar Racing and Reynard Motorsport, and I think this is testament to the great working relationship and friendship we have enjoyed over the years. I believe his capabilities have been strengthened by his time spent in other teams and he will be an enormous asset to Jordan."
Anderson moved to Stewart in 1998 and continued as Jaguar technical director when Jackie Stewart's team was taken over by Ford and renamed. He was replaced at Jaguar by Steve Nichols in December last year and moved to Reynard Motorsport, who build cars for the American CART series.
Jordan said the Northern Irishman would start his new role in December, working with designer Eghbal Hamidy and team manager Trevor Foster, and reporting to chief operating officer John Putt.
"I am thrilled to be returning to Jordan Grand Prix," said Anderson, who has also worked for Brabham and McLaren. "Working at Jaguar and Reynard has been an important phase in my career, and I am now able to use additional experience gained from those projects to work with Jordan on building for future success."
