Frentzen Still Hopeful of Scoring Points

German Heinz-Harald Frentzen is hoping to score some points in tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix despite a somewhat disappointing performance in qualifying.

German Heinz-Harald Frentzen is hoping to score some points in tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix despite a somewhat disappointing performance in qualifying.

The Sauber driver was the first man on track in today's final qualifying after he failed to set a time on Thursday due to an engine failure on his flying lap. Frentzen said he had opted for a more conservative strategy for tomorrow's race and will start from 15th position.

"We decided for a rather conservative approach today," said the German driver after the session. "The most important thing is to have a solid race. If we can make that we can certainly score points tomorrow."

Compatriot and teammate Nick Heidfeld will take the start right in front of Frentzen after outqualifying the veteran German by less than a tenth of a second.

"I had some graining on the rear tyres which gave me a lot of oversteer and cost me time in the last corner," said Heidfeld. "My mistake in the middle sector also cost me time. However, we were able to improve the car since Thursday and it felt quite a bit better."
