Frentzen Determined to Help Debt-Ridden Arrows

Arrows driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen said on Saturday that he will do everything he can to assist his team boss Tom Walkinshaw in his quest to secure the future of his debt-ridden team.

Arrows driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen said on Saturday that he will do everything he can to assist his team boss Tom Walkinshaw in his quest to secure the future of his debt-ridden team.

Walkinshaw, still smiling despite his team's dire financial position, is hoping to secure a deal with one of three possible investors in the next two weeks, which will ensure the team's survival.

"I will do everything that is in my power to help the team," said Frentzen. "I am supporting the team as much as I can. I am not the kind of guy who really does not do a complete job here, even if it is difficult."

The true extent of Frentzen's salary is not known, and it is believed that there may be a deal involving his former team Jordan, who sacked him after last year's British Grand Prix, which sees them pay for a significant part of his drive.

Walkinshaw has made paying salaries to his staff a top priority - but Frentzen, who earned significant amounts when racing for Jordan and Williams, admitted he doesn't even know whether he has been paid.

"I don't know," he said. "I haven't checked yet. I am not the kind of guy who is checking every day on the bank account. We have a very clear arrangement regarding my payment so I expect Tom is doing everything he can to fulfil the contract."

This season is the second time Frentzen has raced for a team in dire financial trouble, the first being Prost Grand Prix last year, which eventually folded at the start of this year.

Although he had already begun talks with Arrows over a possible drive this season during the troubled off-season period at Prost, he persisted with the team in the hope they would survive. And it seems he is prepared to do the same again.

When asked if he will look for another team, he said: "I don't know, but there is a time of day when I have to think about what I am going to do in the future, this is quite normal.

"But right now, I am still married to Arrows and I don't speak about another marriage to that marriage. And even though it is difficult it is still a very challenging situation, when the going gets tough, the tough get going."
