Fisichella expects new Renault deal

Giancarlo Fisichella expects to continue at the Renault team next season, and says an announcement could be made this weekend

"Yes, maybe this weekend, maybe next week," said Fisichella ahead of his home Grand Prix when asked when he was expecting an announcement about his future.

The Roman driver's contract expires at the end of the year, but he is expecting Renault to take up an option to keep him for a further season.

Fisichella says it would be a dream for him to stay at the French squad for a fourth consecutive year.

"It's my target and my dream to get one more year with the team. I expect confirmation again, obviously," he added.

"Before the start of the season we were quite confident of fighting for the championship, but unfortunately it wasn't like that. It was a tough season, so I did my best, and am looking forward for the confirmation again."

The veteran Italian is currenlty in eighth place in the drivers' standings, two points behind teammate Heikki Kovalainen.
