Fisichella aims to stay at Renault

Giancarlo Fisichella says he is not worried about his Formula One future and claims his main priority is to remain at Renault

The Italian's contract with the French squad ends at the end of this season, but his chances of staying at the team seem to have been boosted by the surprise move of World Champion Fernando Alonso to McLaren.

"I don't have a contract for 2007 but I hope I'll find a good solution," Fisichella was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I'm not worried. The objective is to have a good season in order to be able to find a top team, with the priority of staying at Renault.

"You need to move quickly if you want to find a good seat, but you have to secure it all with results. I think the potential to do it is there, maybe with a little more luck compared to last year."

Fisichella also said he expects seven-time Champion Michael Schumacher to remain at Ferrari, but reckons Alonso's move has showed anything can happen in Formula One.

"He's always said he'll stay at Ferrari and he's a man who keeps his word," he added. "But he hasn't married the Prancing Horse so everything is possible, as we saw with Fernando. Not many thought he would leave."
