Firman aims to stay at Jordan for '04

British Formula 1 rookie Ralph Firman hopes to retain his seat with Jordan Grand Prix next season, according to this week's AUTOSPORT magazine

Firman has scored one point during a difficult year for the Silverstone-based Jordan squad, but has shown flashes of form to indicate the Formula Nippon champion's potential at the sport's highest level.

"I want to stay with the team," he said. "There's a good bunch of guys there. They work hard and there's definitely a lot of potential. If they had a lot of budget behind them again, I'm sure they would get back up to the front. Jordan have been winning in the past and hopefully they can get back to it again."

Firman's team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella has been linked with a switch to Sauber for 2004, despite winning this year's Brazilian GP, but Ralph has made it clear he is committed to the Jordan cause.

"Giancarlo has been pretty clear that he wants to leave the team, but I want to stay," Firman added.
