Fined Trulli defends pitlane dive
Jarno Trulli has defended his decision to drive back up the Singapore circuit during practice, saying it was the safest thing to do
The Italian driver received a reprimand and a 10,000 Euro fine after crossing the white line in the pitlane following a spin at the exit of the final corner.
The Toyota driver ended up sitting sideways across the track and decided to drive in the wrong direction and dive into the pitlane in one of the fastest corners of the circuit.
Trulli said after practice that he had done it because he thought it was the safest route.
"Unfortunately I had a spin at the last corner and I wanted to move off the racing line as safely as possible, so I decided to go down the pitlane," explained Trulli.
"I took the quickest and safest option available to me and the other cars. I have been penalised and I accept that but I know I did the safest thing for me and the other drivers - it is one of the quickest corners on the track and you don't want to have a crash there."
