Ferrari will be even faster, says Massa

Felipe Massa believes Ferrari's new engine and latest aerodynamic changes will see the Italian squad surpass rivals Renault in the second half of the 2006 season

Massa, who tested the new upgrades at Paul Ricard last week, told Gazzetta dello Sport: "The tests I did at Le Castellet have given fine results on the new tyres, the improved engine, and especially the latest aerodynamic solutions for fast circuits.

"I was impressed; the car was flying, so I think Ferrari will be able to stay ahead of Renault."

The governing body has notified teams that slot-gap separators will have to be added to their rear wings in a bid to ensure that no teams' wings can flex at high speed, and while it is widely believed Ferrari had benefited from the regulations loophole so far, Massa reckons the opposite.

"Now that the FIA has forced more control on flexi-wings, we'll be even faster," the Brazilian stated.

Massa, who is out of a contract at the end of the year, also commented on his future at Ferrari, saying: "I think I have great chances to stay, but I'm keeping my eyes open."

He also added that teammate Michael Schumacher is likely to continue racing.

"Judging by the effort he's putting in, I say he'll carry on," he added.
