Ferrari launch: Todt 'emotional'

Ferrari's Sporting Director Jean Todt believes his team is more determined than ever to succeed as its goes in search of a third straight drivers title

Speaking at the launch of the F2002 today the Frenchman, who has played an integral part in Ferrari's renaissance, said the team will not rest on its laurels and that the failures of the past provide the motivation for further success.

"This is an emotional time. All I know at the moment is that the car is nice and beautiful," he said. "In time we will check the performance on the track. In Ferrari we have a stable team. We've been stable for many years and will remain so.

"Our strength and our skill is not down to success, but the failures that have caused us to be more determined. This spirit we will take into 2002. We know there is strong competition with the arrival of new manufacturers. They are determined, but so are we. We have to fight strongly because we can't take for granted that the success of past years is easy to achieve."

Should Ferrari win the 2002 drivers' championship it will be the first time in its history that it would have won three consecutive drivers' titles.
