Ferrari launch: di Montezemolo happy

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo wants nothing more than the team to carry on from where it left off in 2001. At the launch of the team's new car at its Maranello headquarters today, the Italian said that if the new car performs as well as last year's F2001 he'll be completely satisfied

"This is the first time in 11 years that I've not asked the team to do better," he admitted. "I would except, although without much excitement, the same results as last year."

Di Montezemolo was at Ferrari during its heyday in the mid-seventies and since returning to the team in 1992 has been one of the main architects of the current revival. Over the past three seasons Ferrari has claimed two drivers' titles, its first back-to-back success since 1953, and three consecutive constructors' championships.

This has come at a time when most of the world's biggest car manufacturers are desperate to emulate the achievements of the Scuderia, a fact that pleases di Montezemolo.

"In the last three or four years Formula 1 has changed, but what is important is that Ferrari is still at the top level. And we are determined to win the championship again."
