Ferrari Duo Quickest at Barcelona - Morning Session

The Ferrari team dominated the morning session of the second day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, where seven Formula One teams are in action this week.

Brazilian Rubens Barrichello and teammate Michael Schumacher, both joining the test today, finished on top of the timesheets as the Ferrari team continued with the development of their F2002 chassis before the new 2003 car is unveiled next Friday.

German Nick Heidfeld was the fastest of the non-Ferrari drivers with the Sauber C22, while BAR's Jenson Button and Jacques Villeneuve were next, completing a dominant morning session for all the five Bridgestone-shod cars present at the Spanish track.

The Williams team were next with their new FW25 car which was unveiled last Friday. Juan Pablo Montoya took over from test driver Marc Gene today at the wheel of the old FW24, while teammate Ralf Schumacher continued at the wheel of the new car, finishing slightly over two tenths behind Montoya.

The Renault and Jaguar teams also joined the Barcelona test today, with Scot Allan McNish finishing as ninth fastest with the first of the French cars. Italian Jarno Trulli was tenth, while Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia completed only seven laps in the Jaguar R4 and finished at the bottom of the times.

Testing continues in the afternoon.
