Ferrari chief glad to prove doubters wrong
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo was happy to prove doubters wrong following their second consecutive win at the European Grand Prix
Michael Schumacher took his first win of the season at the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, but some of Ferrari's rivals believed the race had been a one-off and that the Italian squad would not fight for the titles.
But Schumacher took a commanding victory at the Nurburgring to get back into the title hunt and to prove his rivals that Ferrari are a force to be reckoned with in all races.
Di Montezemolo was delighted.
"I am very, very pleased. I spoke to Todt and Schumacher immediately after. It is a win that demonstrates, as I stated, that Imola would not be a flash in the pan," said di Montezemolo. "This is also proven by Massa's third place.
"It is an important win in Germany, our second biggest market after the USA and not only because it confirms that Ferrari is one of the contenders in Formula One but it promises much for the rest of the championship that should be exciting.
"This does much for the credibility and image of Italian sport."
