Ferrari boss summons Irvine for career talk
Eddie Irvine must prove his commitment as a number two driver if he wants to stay at Ferrari.
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has decided to bring Irvine in to discuss his position within the team.
'I want to talk to Eddie to understand his motivation,' said di Montezemolo. 'After four years in that position it could be possible that he has a different motivation.
'I think Eddie is doing his job very well. That's why we hired him four years ago and I am pleased for what he has done this season.'
The Ulsterman's contract stipulates that he must support team-mate Michael Schumacher, moving over if the German is behind him on the racetrack.
Over the past few months, Irvine has been showing signs of impatience with his situation. Last month, he angered Ferrari bosses by revealing specific details of his driving contract in an Italian magazine.
Ferrari is said to be looking to do a straight swap with the Stewart GP team - trading Eddie Irvine for Brazilian Rubens Barrichello.
