Fallows joins Racing Bulls after short-lived Aston Martin F1 stint

Dan Fallows is joining Racing Bulls as technical director after leaving Aston Martin in 2024

Racing Bulls has hired former Red Bull and Aston Martin engineer Dan Fallows as Formula 1 technical director.

Fallows will report to chief technical officer Tim Goss and “take responsibility for the overall technical direction of the team, working across design, aerodynamics and performance”, the Faenza-based squad stated in a press release.

“I’m very pleased to be joining VCARB at an exciting time for the team,” the Briton said. “There is a clear vision and strong technical ambition, and I’m looking forward to working closely with Tim and the wider engineering group to help drive performance and continue building the team for the future.”

Team principal Alan Permane added: “Dan has a wealth of experience, and his technical understanding and leadership will be a real asset to the team as we continue to develop and push forward competitively. We’re delighted to welcome him to VCARB.”

Fallows previously worked at sister team Red Bull from 2006 to 2021 in the aerodynamics department – first as a team leader, then a chief engineer. Before that, he acted as a senior aerodynamicist from 2001 to 2004 when the Milton Keynes-based outfit was Ford-owned Jaguar.

Fallows was head-hunted by Aston Martin for 2022, which caused a contractual dispute with Red Bull, but he ended up being dismissed from his position as technical director of Lawrence Stroll’s F1 team in late 2024, less than three years into the job.

“The performance of the team this year hasn't been at the level that we've all been wanting it to be at. So we haven't quite delivered there. And that's basically been a decision made by the team,” performance director Tom McCullough explained then.

“I sat next to Dan for the last two or three years since he's been here, working closely with him, he had a really big impact on the development of the '22 car, the '23 car, he's brought a lot to the team, to be honest.

“From that side, it's been good fun working with him. But ultimately during '24, we haven't delivered on track to the level that we know we're expecting to and wanting to do.

“The development of these cars has been hard and ultimately it's a performance-based industry, isn't it? And the team's made the decision to make some changes.”

Fallows was cast aside at Aston Martin Performance Technologies before founding his own Hiperformant company in June 2025 – which he describes as “extensive F1 expertise applied to high performance engineering and business development projects”.
