Antonelli does a 1m32.818s but it's immediately deleted for a track-limits infraction, leaving him on his previous 1m33.601s.
Piastri also on a push lap. Both McLarens still on scrubbed softs. We can infer from this that they didn't consider laps in the 1m33s safe enough, giventhe track evolution.
Well, Norris goes for another push lap - 1m32.775s.
"No further action" on Lando Norris, say the stewards.
Hadjar now says he's "lost the gears".
That surely leaves the McLarens safe for Q1. What will be the cut-off time? Currently Bottas, Gasly, Bortoleto, Hulkenberg, Hadjar and Stroll in the drop zone. Neither of the latter has set a representative lap.
Piastri goes to P2 with a 1m33.076s. 0.029s off Norris.
We can expect the track to evolve a bit after its earlier partial soaking.
Norris - still under threat of penalty from the stewards - now goes fastest of all with a 1m33.047s.
Piastri goes around in 1m34.321s – the Ted Rogers fraction – and that's briefly good enough for P3 but Antonelli and Verstappen have just set a 1m33.601s and 1m33.241s respectively.
Leclerc and Russell also out on scrubbed softs.
Hadjar has got going again - CTRL-ALT-DEL perhaps.
Hadjar reports that his engine has switched off. We can see him trundling around towards Turn 14.
Hamilton and Norris now P1 and P2, Hamilton with a 1m33.311s. Both of them on scrubbed softs.
Another yellow flag, problems for Hadjar at Turn 8. He's got back going again.
Alonso is therefore first to set a flying lap, 1m35.389s. That's not going to stand as fastest for long.
Lance Stroll sliding off at Turn 7 on his out lap. Anyone else?
Esteban Ocon has met the barrier at Turn 13, albeit gently. He locked his front-left on the approach and understeered towards the boondocks.
Isack Hadjar thanks his team as he departs the pits. He;s had a change of PU since the sprint race.
Looks like Antonelli and Gasly on scrubbed tyres - the softs they used in the quali sims in practice.
Q1 is go!
Nico Hulkenberg leads the train of cars out onto the track.
We're just two minutes away from the start of qualifying. Will it be as eventful as yesterday's farrago?
Famously, Sid James, star of the Carry On film franchise, suffered a fatal heart attack while appearing in a revival of the comedy play The Mating Season at the Sunderland Empire theatre in 1976.
When apprised of this, his Carry On co-star Kenneth Williams curled his lip and said, "Everybody dies on stage at the Sunderland Empire..."
"Smote? Carambolage? Is it international talk like a Norman day?" asks Lotus109..
Depends which Norman you mean, old fruit. Norman Wisdom? Barry Norman? (and why not, you might say)
I did actually go and see Norman Lovett do stand-up comedy once. Sadly, he died on stage (not literally). I also used to deliver a newspaper to the house of Norman Collier, famous for his 'broken microphone' comedy routine.
New energy store - out of the existing pool - for Franco Colapinto after his DNF in the sprint race.
In other news, Lando Norris has a stewards' inquiry hanging over him after that crash with his team-mate. Lewis Hamilton has called for changes to the Singapore circuit, pointing out the sprint race would have been rubbish without that rain.
Meanwhile, Top of the Pops from 19 September 1985 plays out with Colonel Abrams' seminal dance track Trapped, widely considered to be the precursor to the house music movement...
Lots of work for various team personnel up and down the pitlane. George Russell's car needed a fix after he smote the barrier at the end of the opening lap of the sprint race. Both Cadillacs were in the wars, too.
And both McLaren needing attention after that needless last-lap carambolage. Piastri said to have required a gearbox change.
We've had our own software issues at this end, delaying the start of live coverage for GP qualifying.
Fortunately we've been able to entertain ourselves with a fine episode of Top of the Pops from 19 September 1985. Although, as ever, we were mildly triggered by Midge Ure ungrammatically mangling the subjunctive with his hit If I Was...
Let's catch you up with various matters arising...
Rain ahead of the sprint race forced a 35-minute hiatus because not all the track was wet. Once it got going, George Russell snatched the lead - then crashed at the end of the opening lap. After various retirements a largely processional race ensued until the final lap, when Lando Norris took out McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri with a somewhat optimistic overtaking move at Turn 5.

WELCOME TO GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING
And in case you've missed it, we've had an eventful day so far, with a delayed start to the sprint race causing a half-hour delay to the start of qualifying.
