Eddie Jordan Dreams of Winning on Home Soil

Team owner Eddie Jordan seems somewhat down, but he says he is definitely not out. And, returning to Silverstone, across the street from Jordan Grand Prix's factory, is lifting the team's spirits, he says.
"It feels good to be getting back to some sort of form going into our home Grand Prix at Silverstone," Jordan told the Mirror. "And what a dream it would be to win it in front of all our workforce who are going to be there waving their flags in big numbers."
A dream indeed, for the fun-loving, amicable team owner has suffered a tough two years, ever since he finished third in the Constructors' Championship of 1999.
"It hasn't been a laugh a minute," Jordan said, "but we have always looked to our destiny knowing that things would work out. But only if we put our minds to it. We have worked hard to date. And although the EJ11 is often the third quickest car on the track the combination of ill-luck and some reliability issues have caused us some pain."
Now, just a day before the British Grand Prix weekend begins, he looks ahead to the upcoming race and beyond, and says the goal has not changed - he is in Formula One to win the World Championship.
"Our goal, along with Honda, is to win the World Championship in the shortest time possible," Jordan said. "But this year was all about learning to work together and putting ourselves in a position to fight for at least third place in the Constructor's Championship.
"It is slightly frustrating to be fighting with Williams, BAR and Sauber when, in fact, our ambitions rest with competing against Ferrari and McLaren. But there is no doubt that the Jordan-Honda package is showing tremendous potential. Formula One is more competitive than ever and we won't be letting up on our efforts to close the gap to the current pace-setters."
