Ecclestone Proposes New Testing Rules

Formula One commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone has come up with a solution for the stalemate between the "Group of Nine" and Ferrari in their argument about testing restrictions - test on Monday after each race.

All F1 teams bar Ferrari have signed an agreement to restrict testing during the season to 30 days, which the Italian team are opposed to given their easy access to two tracks near to their factory.

Ecclestone's has suggested to run testing on the race track the day after each Grand Prix, the same format as is run in MotoGP.

"On Mondays, after each race, one day of open testing would have the advantage of giving teams a measure of how good a work they did on the previous day," Ecclestone told Speedtv.com.

"The savings from not having to send 50-odd people to Barcelona or some other track [to test] would be significant.

"Costs are too high, and the best way to reduce them is by reducing testing."
