Drivers positive over future rules

Rubens Barrichello is hopeful that Formula 1 drivers will be successful in having a say in future track designs and car rules following his meeting with FIA president Jean Todt last weekend

As AUTOSPORT revealed, Todt met with senior figures from the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) for a discussion last week about how racers can provide more input to help the sport.

Barrichello, who is chairman of the GPDA, met Todt along with directors Sebastian Vettel and Felipe Massa.

Speaking about the outcome of the meeting, Barrichello said he was encouraged by how the talks had gone.

"It was okay," said Barrichello. "We had some three or four items to talk over, and he was very open.

"Jean had two drivers who he had worked with already, and with Felipe he has a very good relationship because of Nicolas [Todt, manager] - so it was okay.

"All we want is for the GPDA to be closer on the future of the sport, so that whenever they create a new wing or a new circuit or whatever we should have a vote. This is quite good. He has been very receptive."
