Adding Ferrari and Mercedes into the mix, season two of Formula 1's Drive to Survive documentary builds on the model that made the inaugural offering such a hit while making sure not to exclude the casual fan
One of the starkest differences in Formula 1 pre- and post-Liberty Media's takeover in 2017 has been its approach to digital media - and there is no greater beacon of that than the Netflix Drive to Survive series.
The unprecedented level of behind-the-scenes access to the F1 world made the first season a huge success. It opened the world of grand prix racing up to a wide, youthful audience, converting curious observers into new fans. And for those already following F1, it shone a light on some of the human storylines away from the track.

Luke Smith is Autosport’s Formula 1 reporter. Luke has been working in F1 as a journalist since 2013, initially alongside a History degree at University College London. Luke served as the lead F1 writer at American broadcaster NBC Sports from 2013-17 before spending two years as the F1 Editor for Crash.net. Luke joined Autosport for the 2020 season.
