Dennis: Prodrive deal not yet done
McLaren boss Ron Dennis says Prodrive's Formula One project is "moving gently forward" as his team continue talks with David Richards' squad
Prodrive will become Formula One's 12th team next season using customer cars, and Richards said this week that McLaren were the most likely candidate to link up with.
He admitted, however, that there were two other options.
"McLaren is one of three possible options for us, but they are closest," Richards told The Times newspaper.
Dennis said on Saturday that both parties are still working towards a conclusion of the deal, but he made it clear that any announcement would have to come from Prodrive.
"The Prodrive project is moving gently forward," Dennis told reporters in Turkey.
"Any announcement on that really has to come from that organisation that we are working towards a positive result but it is not there yet and it will not be for us to announce that even if it was.
"There is a clear objective and clearly defined strategy if it falls into place on how to announce it but we are not there yet."
