Dennis critical of Monaco facilities
Ron Dennis, who has been critical of the logistical hassles of Monte Carlo in the past, was frustrated once more when one of his cars was damaged by the craning process in Monaco
The circuit will have newly completed garages and pit zone in time for the 2006 race but until then teams will have to put up with the same cramped conditions that makes Monte Carlo the most stressful weekend of the season for mechanics and team personnel.
Dennis was left fuming when Kimi Raikkonen's chassis, which the Finn crashed at Sainte Devote on Saturday morning, was further damaged while being craned away and returned, late, to the team.
"I was encouraged by the quality of the plans and drawings which we received a couple of weeks ago and I spent an evening with Prince Albert talking exclusively about them," Dennis explained.
"I was then reasonably upbeat until we had the problem today (Saturday). When you wait for the best part of 30 minutes for the car to be returned and then find yourself looking at damage caused by the incompetence of the removal and then its passing slowly through a sea of people, you get pretty damned frustrated."
"Basically, in the lifting process a steel bar is used for strapping the car and it crushed the inlet system and damaged the aerodynamic profile of the roll hoop. It basically meant that we had to put Kimi in a different car for qualifying."
