Da Matta: Hungary could be problematic

Cristiano da Matta has warned his Toyota team that the Hungarian Grand Prix could be problematic, because the team's TF103 car could struggle around the tight and twisty Hungaroring circuit

Toyota has experienced a strong upturn in form in recent races, and currently sits sixth in the Constructors' Championship with 14 points. Despite his concerns, Da Matta reckons that the team can score more points, as long as the team adopts a methodical approach to their race.

"I have never even been to Hungary before, let along raced at the Hungaroring," said the F1 rookie. "The track appears to be very tight and of the remaining four circuits on the calendar, I expect this one to be the most problematic for our TF103 race car.

"We will have to be more methodical and careful in our approach to this race because qualifying and strategy will be more critical than usual. Nevetheless, we will try our hardest to continue our ever-improving performance and get more points in the bag."

Toyota team principal Ove Andersson praised the improvements made to the car in the second half of the season that has propelled the team to sixth in the Constructors' Championship, but has cautioned that the team must remain realistic in its targets.

"We have made vast improvements to the car and the team operations in the second half of this season, but our targets must remain realistic - to score more top ten qualifying results and to get more points in the remaining four races.

"The whole team is fully committed to our aim of scoring more top eight results and in the process we will do our utmost to retain this sixth place and hopefully go one better."
