Coulthard: Schumacher will win again

David Coulthard has warned not to rule out seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher despite his disappointing season

The Ferrari driver, dominant in 2004, struggled this year and only won the US Grand Prix, where only six cars took part after the Michelin runners withdrew for safety reasons.

Despite finishing in third place in the drivers' standings, Schumacher was never a contender, the title battle being fought out between Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen.

Coulthard, however, believes Schumacher will win again.

"If Schumi had had a competitive package, he would have been in there with Raikkonen and Alonso and that would have been a great sight to have seen," Coulthard wrote in his column on The Daily Record.

"The fact we see him in the midst of situations even when he is not competitive shows he is still always aggressive and looking for a chance.

"We have seen him lose a little motivation as the year goes on. Inevitably, the body reacts to what the mind is telling it and if he's not feeling good about his situation then we will see that in his driving. But it is premature to suggest he won't win again."
