Coulthard aims for victory streak

David Coulthard is determined to put the disappointment of his world championship defeat behind him by winning the last four races of the season

The Scot's slim title hopes finally died when Michael Schumacher won the Hungarian Grand Prix two weeks ago.

But he is determined to come out on top of Rubens Barrichello and Ralf Schumacher in the battle for runners-up spot, having finished third four times in six years.

"I don't think I said I didn't care about finishing second in the championship. My motivation was to win the championship, but I still want to win races," said the Scot, who leads Ferrari's third-placed Rubens Barrichello by just five points and Williams-BMW's Ralf Schumacher by another two.

"I am looking at the next four races, trying to get 10 points out of every individual race," he added. "Then, if I have done the second best job this season, I will finish second."

Coulthard is hoping to kick-start his winning streak this weekend in Belgium having not won a race since the Austrian Grand Prix 14 weeks ago.

"I hope we can get a good result here," he continued. "Like a lot of the drivers, I really like this track. The circuit is quite a unique challenge and it has a very long lap.

"The weather side of it, which is always an unknown quantity, adds another dimension to the race weekend," he concluded.

Rain is forecast for the Ardennes on Sunday, with the possibility of showers for Saturday qualifying.
