Campos rules out F1 move for now

GP2 team boss Adrian Campos is ruling out moving to Formula One in the near future despite receiving a financial boost recently

Campos' GP2 squad have been renamed to Barwa International following the investment from the Qatari company.

The Spanish team had been linked with a move to Formula One after Super Aguri team boss Aguri Suzuki opened talks with businessman Alejandro Agag, a major shareholder in the Campos team, last year.

But despite the new financial boost from Qatar, Campos says he is not thinking of Formula One yet.

"The public opinion is that we should make the move into the top category, but right now our main priority is to get in the fight for the GP2 title," the Spaniard said in an interview with El Mundo newspaper.

"There is no doubt that we will look at any possibility that may arise, but it's not always possible.

"Formula One is very complicated and right now it's very closed," he added.

Campos, who was the manager of two-time champion Fernando Alonso, is also hopeful there will be more Spanish drivers in Formula One eventually.

"Right now Fernando Alonso's shadow is very big. Luckily we have Fernando and the sponsors want to be with him. That makes it a little harder for the next generation.

"Nonetheless, I'm convinced there are great drivers developing and who will have their chance, like some of them have had already."
