Button Wants to Prove Williams Wrong

Briton Jenson Button believes team boss Frank Williams made a mistake when he decided to replace him with former CART champion Juan Pablo Montoya for next season.

Button finished in eighth position in the Formula One World Championship in 2000, scoring twelve points in his debut season.

Despite that, Williams decided to let Button go to the Benetton team for the next two years, something the 20-year old Brit thinks was an error.

Speaking to the Sunday Times newspaper, Button said: "In my heart, I think Frank Williams has made a mistake. We’ve had a great year and I wish things could have worked out differently. But there you go. Things happen."

Button, the youngest ever point scorer in Formula One, also admitted he is looking forward to the Benetton challenge next year, adding that one of his priorities was to prove his former boss wrong.

"I'm genuinely excited about joining Benetton," he said. "I've got a real chance to show Frank he was wrong. It's going to be interesting competing against Frank and Juan Pablo.

"Until I actually drive the car, it's hard to predict anything. But they finished fourth this year, and Flavio Briatore is back. He did a great job leading Benetton when Schumacher won the title.

"So it's going to be a real challenge. But guess what? I'm really up for it."
