Button to head to Jordan?

Eddie Jordan fuelled speculation of a tie-up with Jenson Button next year as he lavished praise on the 20-year-old in Montreal

It is thought Button would be high on Jordan's short list if Heinz-Harald Frentzen quits for Jaguar.

According to Autosport last week, the 20-year-old has reportedly lost his Williams drive for 2001 to Juan Pablo Montoya although he and team boss Frank Williams deny any decision has yet been taken.

The British driver, in his first season of Formula 1, has been linked with a number of teams including Jaguar and Benetton but Jordan's major sponsors Benson & Hedges are known to be keen to have an Englishman in the cockpit because Britain is their key market.

"Jenson has come in and made a huge impact and he is very capable and looks after himself well," said Jordan.

"He's a pleasure to have in Formula 1. He's well-controlled, speaks well and drives equally well."

"In time I think many teams, including Ferrari and McLaren will be talking to him - it won't just be us."
