Button still looking to improve

Jenson Button was pleased with his second successive podium finish in Bahrain but admits that BAR still has a long way to go before it can challenge Ferrari

"Ferrari is a tough one because they're a long way in front," Button said, "But if we can get qualifying and the race 100 percent in one weekend then we'd be a lot stronger. Compared to the Renaults and Williams we are very strong. The pace of the car was great - just being able to drive behind the Renault and Williams and seeing how much quicker we were."

Button denied that confidence from his first podium in Malaysia had any bearing on a second coming straight away.

"My confidence was sky high anyway - with both myself and the team," he said. "We've done so well and we keep moving forward, which is a great thing and we're learning as we go because we're still not that experienced as a team.

"It's fantastic to be able to do it two races in a row but we were still 20-odd seconds behind the Ferraris. This one was a bit more difficult - there was a lot more going on. We didn't really get the right set-up in qualifying, we had too much understeer, and I realised in the race how much time that cost me. We should have been alongside Michael on the grid. I'm happy but I'm not ecstatic."
