Button says Honda have work to do
Jenson Button has admitted that Honda Racing have work to do after being outclassed by Renault in the Malaysian Grand Prix
The Japanese manufacturer had gone into the Sepang weekend confident they could fight for the win after the disappointment of Bahrain, but they failed to live up to those expectations.
Button ran second for much of the race behind eventual winner Giancarlo Fisichella, before dropping another position to Fernando Alonso after the final round of pitstops.
And Button, who finished nearly 10 seconds behind Fisichella, said there was nothing more he could have done to improve his eventual third placed finish.
"There was no point in the race where we could have gone quicker," he said. "The only problem we had was that Scott Speed held me up for a few laps and Fernando jumped me, but there was nothing more to get out of the car.
"That was the maximum there was. We were flat out every lap."
Button was not too disheartened by the result that leaves him joint second with Michael Schumacher in the title.
"That is not too bad, but we have got some work to do," he explained.
