Button encouraged by Honda's form

Jenson Button says he has been encouraged by the performance of his Honda team at the Spanish Grand Prix

The British driver scored his and his team's first points of the season, going on to finish in sixth position despite admitting that the Barcelona circuit did not suit his car.

And although Button confesses there is still a lot of work to do to be where they want, the Briton is upbeat just seeing that Honda are getting faster and faster in every race.

"It was very encouraging," Button said of his performance in Barcelona. "The first few races in qualifying were reasonable but I struggled to have a good performance in the races, basically because twice I crashed at turn one.

"It was nice to get to the end of a grand prix and not scoring just one point but get three points on board. It was a good race and the pace of the car was reasonable.

"There is a lot of work to do but the positives are that we are improving and each race we go to we feel we are getting more out of the car," he added ahead of this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

The Honda driver reckons his team should be stronger in Istanbul thanks to the nature of the track, although he believes it will be hard to repeat his Spanish GP result unless there are retirements in front of him.

"We have some tweaks that should give us some time and this track should be a bit better for our car than Barcelona, which is quite bumpy," he said.

"I'm looking for a good performance in qualifying and then we will see. If everyone finishes then it will be difficult to score points, but we will aim for points for sure."
