Button cautious despite Monza showing

Jenson Button is remaining cautious about whether Honda Racing have finally turned the corner on their troubled season despite a point-scoring finish in the Italian Grand Prix

The Briton qualified in the top ten for only the second time this season and then put in his best race performance of the year to net an eighth placed finish.

And although the team are hoping that suspension and aerodynamic improvements will help them put in similar finishes for the rest of the year, Button is more circumspect about matters - especially heading to this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.

"I'm happy that Spa is back on the calendar this year, but testing for us there was pretty tough - it was one of our worst tests so far of the year" said Button. "I love the circuit, but testing there was no so good for us.

"We've got the new suspension which should work for us in Spa, and it's just finding a wing level that works for us. We can't find a wing that's working.

"It's going to be a tough one. We didn't make the best of it this weekend (in Monza), but I'm sure we can sort ourselves out next weekend. It will be tough to be 15th or 16th there after finishing in the top 10 here, so we've got to hope for a reasonable weekend and keep everyone positive for the last few races of the year."

Although Button was pleased to finish in the points at Monza, he admitted to some frustration at not having got his wing levels sorted out properly - which cost him in the race.

"It was frustrating. We didn't deserve to finish fifth or sixth because we were not quick enough, even though because of the safety car that was possible.

"We were running way too little front wing. That was the fault of all of us really; we got it wrong from qualifying to now. We took off quite a bit of front wing because we thought we'd need to for the consistency, but it just made the car undriveable.

"You've got no front wing, so you've got nothing pushing the front tyres into the road. That means you're locking the fronts up, which again just makes it worse. So it was an annoying race; it could have been a lot better than it was."
