Button Cautious about Renault's Prospects

Briton Jenson Button remained cautious about Renault's prospects in the 2002 World Championship, after unveiling the team's R202 challenger on Sunday.

Briton Jenson Button remained cautious about Renault's prospects in the 2002 World Championship, after unveiling the team's R202 challenger on Sunday.

Button helped pull the wraps off the new car at Renault's Technocentre in Guyancourt, but refused to be drawn on what to expect from the package this season.

Button said: "There has been a lot of terrific hard work done over the winter and if that is anything to go by we should be competitive.

"But really we will see tomorrow for the year ahead. I don't know how things will go, but I'm just looking forward to getting behind the wheel. It is a terrific thing being involved in Renault."

Italian Jarno Trulli, who replaces Giancarlo Fisichella with the team, admitted that being part of the Renault team gives him added motivation to be a success in the sport.

"I am motivated and I'm proud to be with Renault," Trulli said. "They are back to win and it is a great opportunity for me."

Team principal Flavio Briatore believes that last year's on-track difficulties will serve the team well this year and admitted his dream is to see a Renault victory.

Briatore said: "Last year was hard for everybody. It was a transitional year.

"There is a special culture in this team and now is our first year as Renault. It is time to get down to work and get the job done.

"We will do all we can to be competitive. After that who knows, but I know we all want to see Renault winning in Formula One. I have great belief in the project and all the people and technology involved."
