Burti Pleased Despite No Points

Luciano Burti was happy to finish in tenth place at the French Grand Prix after a difficult weekend for his Prost team at their home Grand Prix.

Luciano Burti was happy to finish in tenth place at the French Grand Prix after a difficult weekend for his Prost team at their home Grand Prix.

The Guyancourt-based outfit have one of the best reliability records so far this season but they were unable to turn that into a good result on Sunday.

However, Brazilian Burti, who outshone his experienced teammate Jean Alesi during most of the weekend, was pleased with his day's work despite not scoring any points.

"I think this was a good race," said Burti. "We had a good start and managed to get our start control to work properly now. After my pit-stop, on my second set of tyres, the car became very difficult to drive and had no grip at all. It was pretty much like driving in the wet.

"I would have liked to finish higher than 10th for me and for the team, but our performance has been quite good, and overall I feel happy with the job we have done today."

Alesi continued struggling with the set-up of his Acer-powered AP04, and after qualifying in a season worst 19th place, the Frenchman was able to move up the field to finish in twelfth place. However, he was far from happy.

"Today’s race is the result of a difficult weekend, during which we have never been able to set-up my car properly," admitted Alesi. "I feel so disappointed for the team and for the public.

"We have been working hard towards progress and results in the past weeks and this Grand Prix must not change our objectives and motivation."
