The 006 appeared at Silverstone with the new underbody that was introduced at Magny-Cours. However, it was not used for qualifying or the race as it was too sensitive to sidewinds on the flat Northamptonshire track. There was also a new faring in front of the sidepod, but this too was discarded before qualifying.
The team still only had two MP4-19B chassis at Silverstone, which featured new Carbone Industrie brake discs with transverse cuts across them for better response.
The first major development to be produced from Sauber's new mega-bucks windtunnel. The radiator windows are now more on top of the sidepods than the side (1). The winglet that was previously a single element is now a double (2) and has a slightly twisted profile. The exhaust chimney is as before, but mounted lower (3). There was also an extra wing above the rear axle line (4).
Renault continued with the aero revisions that were first seen in Magny-Cours. There are four small wings on the top of the engine cover, but now in different positions. Two are attached to the airbox (1) and the others are on the engine cover (2). The latter wings have a neutral profile (no downforce) and are designed to help airflow to the rear wing.
