Both Ferrari Drivers to Take Part in Marlboro Masters

Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello will participate in the 10th Marlboro Masters at the Zandvoort Circuit on August 5th and 6th, demonstrating the Ferrari F1 2000.

On Saturday (August 5th), Barrichello will be joined by World Rally Champion Tommi Makinen, 500cc motorbike star Carlos Checa and 'duo-bike' rider Randy Mamola. Sunday (August 6th) will see demonstrations by Michael Schumacher, Makinen's teammate Freddy Loix, as well as Checa and Mamola.

With the exception of motorbike star Max Biaggi - who was at last year's Masters - the entire Marlboro World Championship Team will be in action in Zandvoort.

Schumacher returns to the Zandvoort circuit for the first time since his European Formula Ford victory in 1988. Unlike his brother Ralf, Michael never competed in the Marlboro Masters of Formula 3. By the time the first Masters event was staged in 1991, the German driver had already moved on from F3 racing (when he drove a WTS Reynard-Volkswagen under team manager Willi Weber).

Barrichello will make his first acquaintance with the new, longer Zandvoort circuit, but he has competed on the shorter track - winning the EFDA Opel-Lotus Euroseries race here in 1990, a victory which helped him claim the class championship. A year later, Barrichello participated in the first Marlboro Masters, starting from pole position in his West Surrey Racing Ralt-Mugen Honda. He was however unable to capitalise on this during the race and eventually finished sixth, with David Coulthard claiming victory.
