BMW won't relax despite gap to Renault
BMW Sauber's technical director Willy Rampf says the German squad can't afford to relax in their battle for third place in the constructors' championship this year
BMW are comfortably ahead of Renault with six races remaining after having outshone the world champions for most of the season.
The German team, who achieved their best result in F1 in Hungary last weekend, have scored 71 points so far, while their French rivals have only 33.
Despite the comfortable gap, Rampf reckons the team can't lean back.
"Renault collected one point, we collected ten," said Rampf on BMW Sauber's website. "The gap was pretty big. We are in a comfortable position but that doesn't mean that we can afford to relax. Everything we can learn this year will help us next season.
"This year we have a continuous development, small steps, because we can't afford to lean back," Rampf added.
"This way a little bit of pressure remains on the team because we go to the races in order to fight for good results and not only pay attention to securing our world championship position."
