BMW 'very happy' with Turkey result

BMW motorsport chief Mario Theissen said he was very happy with the result of the Turkish Grand Prix despite his team being unable to fight close to Ferrari or McLaren

Robert Kubica finished in fourth position for the second consecutive race, but the Pole was over 20 seconds behind race winner Felipe Massa.

Nick Heidfeld made up four positions after a poor qualifying and went on to finish in fifth, allowing the team to stay in second place in the standings.

"Taking our starting positions of fifth and ninth into account, I am very happy with today's result," said Theissen. "Both drivers gained positions at the start.

"Kimi Raikkonen was able to overtake Robert during his first pit stop as we expected. On the other hand, Nick gained two places during his first pit stop. Fourth and fifth and nine championship points underline the team's performance today."

Technical director Willy Rampf also welcomed the result, saying nine points was more than they had expected before the start of the race.

"We have scored nine important points," he said. "This is more than can be expected if you start from fifth and ninth, therefore we are happy with the results. Both drivers had troublefree races with no errors. Now we are confident as we look forward to Monaco."
