Bernie Will Stay Longer Than Me, Says Mosley

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone will stay in Formula One longer than FIA President Max Mosley, according to the latter.

Ecclestone, who has been running the sport for more than 30 years now, has been rumoured as being close to selling his 50 per cent stake of the SLEC family trust, the company in charge of the Formula One commercial rights.

Five car manufacturers - Ford, Renault, DaimlerChrysler, Fiat and BMW - are keen to purchase a share in order to have more control in the future of Formula One.

However, Mosley, who recently admitted the sport would benefit from the the manufacturers' purchase, believes 70-year old Ecclestone will stay in charge for some time to come.

"I think Bernie will go on as long as he can, and at the moment there's no noticeable difference between his level of performance now and his level of performance 10 or 15 years ago," Mosley said.

"So unless something unfortunate happens, I think he will go on; and the manufacturers, if they do take a stake, will probably want him to go on. They tend to want to keep things stable. Yeah, I think Bernie will be around for a while yet.

"I think Bernie will be around longer than I will, that's for sure."
