Barrichello on form in morning test

Michael Schumacher was second quickest, the World Championship leader a mere 0.021 slower than his team mate. British Grand Prix winner David Coulthard was fourth overall.

Third was the Jaguar of Eddie Irvine, his R1 revelling in the warm conditions, despite being half a second behind Schumacher. Irvine put in 36 laps, a similar amount to most of the drivers, suggesting reliability for the Jaguar squad may be improving - though Barrichello and Coulthard actually managed 50 and 60 laps respectively.

Jos Verstappen once again figured for Arrows, the promising testing pace of Tom Walkinshaw's outfit showing no signs of abating. The Dutchman ran 40 laps, with a fastest of 1m22.868 - just over a second slower than Barrichello.

Last in the morning times was BAR tester Patrick Lemarie, who only set 4 laps, with a best of 1m25.484.
