Barrichello Not Ruling Out Victory

Barrichello was seventh quickest in today's second practice session, finishing over 1.5 seconds off the pace set by McLaren's test driver Alexander Wurz.

The Ferrari driver, however, is predicting the World Champions will be strong this weekend.

"The car is feeling good, but Friday there is nothing much today because everyone can do whatever they like," said the Brazilian.

"We have to wait until tomorrow to see our true performance. Nurburgring can be a lot better than Monaco for us, it was always like this in the past so we have to keep on going.

"Anything is possible, even a win. I feel the car is a lot better and I feel good, we are looking good."

All the times in practice were a couple of seconds outside that set by Michael Schumacher to claim pole position at the circuit last season.

The seven-times World Champion won from pole last year and made an early declaration of intent on Friday morning as the quickest of those who will race on Sunday.

Schumacher ran only five laps in the second session with a marginal improvement of his time from the morning, preserving his car for Saturday's qualifying and Sunday's race. Barrichello, meanwhile, completed 19 laps.

Ferrari have struggled this season and are hoping the return to a single qualifying session this weekend will help them move up the grid to a position where they can make the most of their car's undoubted pace.

Barrichello claimed, however, their Bridgestone tyres were not the only reason for their problems.

"It is not a single problem," said Barrichello. "It is a bit complex and you have to be very fortunate to choose the right tyre for the weekend.

"For example, the hot weather here is a little pain so that's it, the marriage, we know, it works. It worked in the past and it will work in the future, it is just we have to wait for that single time for us to win and then I don't think we will stop."
