Barrichello denies quit threats

Rubens Barrichello has denied stories in the Brazilian press suggesting that he will not accept any more second rate treatment from Ferrari

The catalyst for the rumours in Brazil is the fact that the sole new Ferrari F2002 has been given to Michael Schumacher despite Interlagos being Barrichello's home race.

"Sometimes Brazilian papers come out with some really bad things and it then goes into the Italian press looking like it's the truth," Barrichello said.

On the subject of the F2002, he added: "It's just obvious that I would have liked to have the new car because after four days of testing in Barcelona last week, I felt that it was better in every respect. For sure, when I knew we were only bringing one car, to be racing in my own country at my own track, it feels sad not to have it. But, I accept it. Michael, after all, is leading the championship and has more points."

He went on to explain that there is only one F2002 in Brazil because the decision to bring it was taken so late.

"They had to take it apart so many times to analyse things and they felt that the best approach was to have just one car. But I have no problems with Ferrari or anything. I am entitled to have my opinion.

"I sit down with Ross (Brawn) and Jean (Todt) and we talk. Right now I'm happy at Ferrari, I'm at my home race with a car that should still be competitive, so let's just see what it does..."
