Barca 3: Schuey stars

Michael Schumacher joined the Barcelona F1 testers on day three of the four-day test, but like the rest got little work done thanks to heavy rain and very cold temperatures

Schuey was just under two seconds quicker than anyone else and kept on running to the end of the day, though most of the quicker times were set in the morning.

Fernando Alonso put a few more miles on Renault's new Imola-spec engine and set the second best time, while Rubens Barrichello was third best in the second Ferrari.

Jenson Button had a new Imola-spec Honda engine in the BAR and was fourth fastest. He handed the car over to Takuma Sato in the afternoon. The Japanese had to cope with the worst of the conditions, went off on his first run and then had the new engine blow on his second.

Alex Wurz and David Coulthard put in the laps diligently in the two McLarens to wind up fifth and sixth best, ahead of Jarno Trulli, who only ran 22 laps in the Renault.

Ralf Schumacher racked up 62 laps and a spin in the Williams, putting in the eighth best lap, ahead of Felipe Massa in the Sauber who had technical problems on the Sauber in the morning and didn't run in the afternoon.

Scott Dixon continued to turn in valuable mileage in Williams, completing more laps (66) than anyone else. By contrast Toyota's Cristiano da Matta (in the new re-packaged car) and Ricardo Zonta only did 42 laps between them. Jaguar's Bjorn Wirdheim (16 laps) and Williams' Marc Gene (five laps) also stayed mostly in the pits.
