Williams were joined by BAR at the Estoril track in Portugal yesterday, with Ralf Schumacher setting the fastest time.
Ralf Schumacher ran the most laps on the day, setting a fastest time of 1:21.103 during his 65 laps of the circuit. Schumacher commented about the test and track at the end of the day: "It was a productive day, with a good amount of running and good progress made in setting up the car. I think that we should be well prepared for Spielberg. It was nice to come back to Estoril. I have good memories of this track because I did a lot of testing here in 1997. The new layout of the circuit has generally improved, as most of the corners have big enough run-off areas now. There are still two corners to improve, I think, the exit of the 2nd corner and turn 6, the left-hander. Although the track is new, it’s still very bumpy."
BAR completed some limited running, with Ricardo Zonta completing 25 laps with a fastest time of 1:21.730, and Darren Manning completing 11 laps with a best time of 1:24.329.
