Balance Problems Hamper Button's Progress

Briton Jenson Button failed to shine in today's practice sessions in Austria, struggling to find the right balance for the Michelin-shod Renault R202.

"I had a difficult time today, struggling with the balance which is something we need to work on some more," said Button, who was only 14th quickest at the A1-Ring track today. "We still haven't finalised our tyre choice, but we know the direction we need to work in tomorrow.

"I now have to wait for the next sessions to try out what we hope will be the answers to our difficulties."

Button, who has impressed so far this year finishing in the points three times in five races, was more than a second off the pace today. The young Briton, however, could outpace teammate Jarno Trulli, the Italian setting the 17th fastest time.

"A normal day during which we conducted our basic race preparation," Trulli said. "While testing the different tyre compounds, we succeeded in finding a decent set-up, even though there's still some work to do on the balance. Overall, it was a good day for me."
